ABOUT THE ALBUM

Coffeehouse Boyfriend is typical of the "mix tapes" I used to make for love interests, and girlfriends as a young man. All these songs were recorded either on an analog cassette 4-track, or on a "ping-pong" setup constructed by wiring two tape-decks together to make a kind of crude 2-track recorder. These are the best 10 of my earliest recordings.

This is me in the makeshift studio I set up in the root cellar under my parent's house, just after I bought a 4-track recorder. I'm about 20 in this picture.
